School of Missions 2008/9 - Opening Mass with Bishop Klug

"Fix your eyes on Jesus" is the theme of the 2008/9 School of Missions which was marked by an Opening mass presided by Bishop Klug from our diocese, Freiburg. We have 10 participants from 5 countries.

The participants:

Germany - Michael & Theresa with their 11 month old daughter Clara from Munich; we met them while on outreach in the last school. Josef from Regensburg, actively involved with the youth work of the Charismatic renewal.

Singapore - Simon & Stella, members of Living Stones Campus Outreach, Andrina from ICPE Singapore's Women's Cell Group Ministry

Indonesia - Francisca residing in Australia and Dismas residing in the USA

South Korea - Sumi (Her sister, Marie, did a school here in Feb-June 2007)

India - Tony, our ICPE seminarian!!

The band, led by Karolina, animated the music for the Opening Mass. Pat was unable to join the band this time since she is recovering from surgery. Though weak and in pain, her overjoyed spirit gave her the energy to climb the hill and come for the opening mass in the church!

Bishop Klug encouraging us all to "make the world a dangerous place for non-believers".

Karol & Karolina are both actively involved in the School of Missions and will be serving in the area of music and worship apart from many other tasks - spiritual and practical! Karolina transformed the community's dining room into a beautiful banquet hall with beautiful decorations - both handmade and natural, collected from the richness of our forest.

We enjoyed the banquet with Schweinebraten (Roast pork), the speciality of the area, and ended the meal with the Black Forest Cake - of course!

Breathing in God's Love

Healing Life's Hurts by Matt Dennis & Sheila Linn - 20th - 25th May 2008 in Allerheiligen

During the inner healing seminar with the Linns, the Band of Followers led the worship for the event. One of the highlights of the event was the Eucharistic Celebrations which ended with a time of spontaneous worship every evening. It was an anointed time and many had been moved as they responded to the love of God that was felt so tangibly.

Pat sang her own composition, Breath of God, an anointed song, asking God to fill us with his spirit of truth... Here's the lyrics of the song:

Breath of God come and heal
Breath of God come transform
Breath of God come redeem
And fill us with Your love

Spirit of God take control
Teach us to all let go
Rid us of pride as we pray
In your safety arms we lay

Oh come and fill us with Your Spirit of truth
Come and touch us by the power of Your cross
And in Your mercy, may we find restoration in You
In You

Welcome Karol & Karolina

We welcome Karol & Karolina Fromont to the worship ministry. The Fromonts have just finished their 2 year staff formation programme in Manila. They are originally from Poland and have been with the Polish mission centre before doing their staff formation.

Karol plays the drums and has enhanced the sound of our band with good rhythm.

We can all hear Karolina doing her voice warm up exercises from far before any session. She sings in the band. Karolina also plays the guitar.

Memories of the Philippines: Karolina showing a "deep fried one day chicken", a well known Filipino cuisine which she was challenged to try before leaving the Philippines.

REMAIN IN ME AS I IN YOU

CLOSING OF THE SCHOOL OF MISSIONS
27TH JANUARY 2008

The epic journey undertaken by the fellowship of 8 participants over four and a half months drew to a wondrous close on the 27th of January 2008.
Sunday was a day of great joy and celebration mingled with tears of sadness at the imminent departure of fellow participants who have shared life and faith so intensively together and have become close friends.
The closing mass was very moving especially when 3 of the participants shared how much their lives have changed during the school as they encountered God's transforming powerful love in the depths of their hearts.
The agape meal in the evening was filled with an atmosphere of a family celebrating its sons and daughters, its brothers and sisters who have grown in the Lord and truly blossomed in every way.
Yes, one word that could describe this 4-month journey is GROWTH! Bringing to fruition the promises of the Lord for this School as reflected in the theme "Remain in me as I in you". Cradled in the Hands of the Almighty, each participant, like a seed planted in rich soil, has germinated, grown their roots deeper, exhibiting shoots of new growth, bearing fruit in plenty.
WOW! These living miracles have been truly amazing to witness and live with! And deeply challenging and inspiring to all of us, to keep running the race and fighting the good fight of faith!
All glory and praise to our faithful God for ever and ever! Amen.
Here are some shots from the Closing Mass.

Theresa sharing her story of transformation during the Closing Mass.

Juraj testifying to God's wonderful work in his life.

Sabrina sharing her story of how she experienced God's faithfulness to her.

Father Dominik and Father Juraj con-celebrating the Closing Mass.

The participants performing Testify to Love for the final time.

FOR AS LONG AS I SHALL LIVE
I WILL TESTIFY TO LOVE
I'LL BE A WITNESS IN THE SILENCE
WHEN WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH

WITH EVERY BREATH I TAKE
I'LL GIVE THANKS TO GOD ABOVE
FOR AS LONG AS I SHALL LIVE
I WILL TESTIFY TO LOVE!
